Is there a better way to kick off Ground Hog Day other than job shadowing? The eighth grade class of St. Peter and Sacred Heart School shadowed different people at their jobs at the City of Lewiston. In the morning we left school and headed over to the Lewiston City Hall. We gathered in the Council Chambers and we met the mayor of Lewiston, Mayor Lionel Guay.

Following Mayor Guay’s introduction was Jim Bennett, the city administrator. Mr. Bennett spoke to us about the city government and explained to us what people do for jobs in the city of Lewiston.

Then around 9:25 am we all left with our work host. Some of us went to restaurants, some got to ride in a police car, others went to the library and others drove around the city to see what our work host does for work. Our work host taught us what they do and how they do their jobs.

After spending the morning with our hosts we were treated to pizza and a power point presentation back at the council chambers. The power point presentation was created by Dottie Perham-Whittier with her job shadow student Tammie from Montello School. The power point presentation contained pictures of each of us with our work host and let everyone know a little about each of us. Over all we had a great day and we wish we could go to work everyday!
