For the past few weeks Team 72 at Lewiston Middle School has been studying G.R.E.A.T.

G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) is a program by the Lewiston Police Department. Officer Timothy Darnell, our resource officer, has been instructing us for G.R.E.A.T.

We have been learning and discussing how “gangs” affect our lives. We’ve also learned about how mistakes affect our lives later and how volunteering can make our community a better place.

At the end of G.R.E.A.T. we were assigned to do community service. Monday people did picking up trash, painting over graffiti, and helping at a nursing home in the community.

This was a real fun experience. I know I enjoyed it, and I know others did too. I’m glad that Officer Darnell did this with us.

Remember, be G.R.E.A.T.
