Dear Sun Spots: My husband and I are looking everywhere for a Slinky Dog from the movie “Toy Story.” Our 4-year-old boy has asked for nothing but this since he first saw the movie about a year ago. Toy stores are telling us they no longer carry them and we have struck out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. – Roger and Stephanie M., Minot.

Dear Sun Spots: In response to Kaity, Lewiston (Sun Spots column Sept. 23): There is a choral group in Lewiston called Magic & Co., which has performed a series of annual concerts locally and is currently rehearsing for a Christmas concert. Dear Sun Spots: Are there any churches or nonprofit organizations in Lewiston or Auburn who take household items or clothes to give to those in need? I want the items to be given freely to those in need. Thank you for your help. – P.A.R., Auburn.

Answer: To donate, you can contact Brother Richard at St. Martins de Porres on Bartlett Street in Lewiston, (207) 786-4690. Donations can be made Monday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. If that’s not convenient because of working hours, someone is available to accept donations after 4 p.m. Please note that St. Martins de Porres doesn’t accept garage- or yard-sale items. They do accept clean, gently used, good quality clothing that you or I would wear. Distribution is Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., and the clothing is free.

You also can contact the Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court Street, Auburn, (207) 784-6661. They take donations of good used clothes and give them away free. They are open Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and have clothes for babies, children, teens, men and women. They have coats, jackets, skirts, slacks and more.

Dear Sun Spots: Many years ago when I was a teen, there was a family game, Slap Stick. I believe it was put out by Milton Bradley. It was a vinyl tablecloth, with four plastic color disks that inserted underneath the tablecloth. On the top of the tablecloth there were four rubber tubes that fitted onto these discs. There were also four slap sticks for each layer, along with a deck of cards with circles in the middle of them. Does anyone out there remember this fun game? I would love to purchase another game for my family. – Claire in Mechanic Falls.
