JAY – Alexis Blodgett sank a shot from the corner at the buzzer to give Jay a 43-41 victory over Mountain Valley in an MVC girls’ basketball game on Tuesday.

The lead went back and forth in the fourth quarter. The Falcons led by one point in the final minute before Blodgett’s last-second heroics.

Blodgett finished with a game-high 15 points, while Alannah White chipped in with 10 for the Tigers (1-1). Beth Moore had seven points and 10 rebounds. Ayla White paced the Falcons (1-1) with 13 points and Brenna Roberts added 12.

St. Dom’s 50, Hall-Dale 47

AUBURN – Allaina Murphy poured in 32 points to lead St. Dom’s to a season-opening 50-47 victory over Hall-Dale in a MVC girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

Amy Kasabian made a couple of key steals late in the game to help seal the victory.

The Saints led 16-11, 28-17 after the first two quarters before the Bulldogs (1-1) roared back to tie the game at 34-34 entering the final quarter. St. Dom’s (1-0) never lost the lead down the stretch.

Elise Applegate chipped in with eight points for the Saints. Jess Woods scored a team-high 17 points for Hall-Dale, while Taulor Massey added 14.

Gardiner 47, Oak Hill 37

GARDINER – Gardiner used a 19-7 spurt in the second quarter to open up a lead en route to a 47-37 triumph over Oak Hill.

Trailing 27-14 at the half, the Raiders (1-1) made a brief run in the third quarter to slice the deficit to single digits, but Gardiner (1-1) successfully fought off Oak Hill’s comeback attempt.

Jenna Moore and Taylor Bannister led the Tigers with 12 and 11 points. Maggie Sabine scored a game-high 16 points for Oak Hill. Becka Lehotay was the only other player with more than one field goal, finishing with seven points.

Richmond 39, Rangeley 26

RICHMOND – Megan Deraps led all players with 12 points, including a trey, as Richmond outscored Rangeley by nine in the second half to pull away for a 39-26 win over visiting Lakers.

Brooke Lancaster added 11 for the Bobcats (1-0).

Allison Hammond led the Lakers (0-2) with 11 points.

Morse 62, Oxford Hills 50

BATH – Tara Burr led three players in double figures as Morse overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to post a 62-50 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC girls action Tuesday.

Hannah Roy added 15 for the Shipbuilders and Sara Fitzgerald chipped in 12 in the victory.

Lindsay Fox and Alli Nolan poured in 10 each for the Vikings.

Cape Elizabeth 53, Poland 15

POLAND – Gabe Donohue hit for a game-high 23 points and threw in four 3-pointers, allowing Cape Elizabeth to overpower Poland, 53-15, in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

The Knights stayed close to the Capers for the first half, but Cape Elizbeth’s offense opened up th 30 points in the second half.

The Capers’ defense did not allow Poland to score a point in the third quarter.

Morgan Pillsbury helped out for 16 points for the Capers. Celeste Knowles was Poland’s leading scorer with eight points.

Old Orchard Beach 40, Buckfield 12

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Annabelle Frenette drained 16 points and had seven steals to lead Old Orchard Beach to a 40-12 rout over Buckfield in a girls’ basketball matchup.

Gillian Foss chipped in for the Seagulls with 15 points and 30 rebounds, the only other player in double figures. 

Alicia Patrie and Allie Martin led the Bucks with four points each.

Old Orchard jumped out to a 20-point advantage in the first frame and was never challenged.

Erskine 43, Lewiston 35

LEWISTON – Erskine used a 16-9 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 43-35 victory over Lewiston in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

Kaitlyn Honeu led the Eagles (1-1) with 13 points, while Kaci Hudson chipped in with 10. The Blue Devils (0-2) stayed within three points in the first half before letting this one escape. 

Kirstin McCombs led Lewiston with 11 points, while Jaime Swart added seven. 

York 49, Gray-New Gloucester 11

GRAY – Niki Taylor poured in 13 points to propel York to a 49-11 rout over Gray-New Gloucester in a WMC girls’ basketball tilt.

Stephanie Gallagher chipped in for York (2-0) with 12 points, the only other player in double figures. York held a 29-7 advantage at the half and was never challenged. 

The Patriots (0-2) were paced by Kassie Wilson with seven points, while Meghan Dehetre added four. 

Lisbon 45, Boothbay 25

LISBON – Lisbon used a 19-2 run in the second quarter to pull away for a 45-25 victory over Boothbay in an MVC girls’ basketball game.

Renee Moore led the Greyhounds (2-0) with 15 points, 14 rebounds and three steals. Kelsey Lanell chipped in with six points and six rebounds, while Jess Campbell added five points.  

Boothbay (1-1) was led by Kristin Sibley with a 12-point performance, the only player to reach double figures. Boothbay stayed within one point in the first stanza before Lisbon’s offense hit high gear.

Lawrence 45, Mt. Blue 26

FARMINGTON – Hailey McGee drained 13 points Tuesday to propel Lawrence to a 45-26 win over Mt. Blue in a KVAC girls’ basketball matchup.

Courtney Langley chipped in for the Bulldogs (1-1) with 11 points, the only other player in double figures. Lawrence held a 27-14 advantage at the half and was never challenged. 

The Cougars (0-2) received six points from Jillian Perron, while Chelsea thompson added five.  

Falmouth 54, Freeport 43

FREEPORT – Kylie Libby scored 14 points, Jess DiPhilippo added 12 and Anna Keeler put up 11 to lead Falmouth past Freeport, 54-43, in WMC girls’ basketball Tuesday.

Falmouth (2-0) took a 10-point lead at the end of the first period and held it throughout. Rachel Foster topped Freeport (0-2) with 20 points.
