AUBURN — The City of Auburn and the Auburn Public Services Department are seeking a local tree to use in Festival Plaza this holiday season.

The ideal tree will be a spruce or fir evergreen in Auburn, is at least 25 feet tall, relatively “accessible” and not close power lines or other obstructions.

The winning tree will be removed and transported at no cost to the property owner.

Visit www.auburnmaine.gov/pages/neighborhood/tree to submit a tree candidate. Entries are due by Friday, Oct. 26.

The tree will be illuminated Saturday, Nov. 24, for spectators at the Twin Cities Festival of Lights holiday parade and official kick-off of the holiday season. The owners of the winning tree will be recognized through publicity and social media, and will be invited to the lighting ceremony.

Residents and property owners who wish to donate a tree are encouraged to submit the tree for consideration as soon as possible and no later than Oct. 26.
