Novelist Chinelo Okparanta will visit Bates College to read from and discuss her work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Muskie Archives, 70 Campus Ave., Lewiston. Born and raised in Nigeria, Okparanta is the author of “Happiness,” “Like Water” and “Under the Udala Trees.” An assistant professor of English and creative writing at Bucknell University, she was named one of Granta’s “Best of Young American Novelists” in 2017.
