A firefighter who is active in professional public safety associations in Raymond and Portland, Denis Morse is convinced “regionalization is going to become a reality with any tax cap.”

The top priority for lawmakers, Morse said, is to improve the safety of road structures and combining municipal resources while eliminating redundancy. And, then there are “regulations on regulation” that inhibit efficient delivery of services.

Morse said he would support the implementation of a 1 percent tax cap, but only going forward from 2005. Morse says he will support his consitutents’ choice in the tax cap vote.

He does support a local option sales tax, if it’s truly optional.

Morse believes that some consolidated school districts have failed. He does believe school administration could be further consolidated. “It’s redundancy I’m against.”
