NORWAY — River Valley Healthy Communities and Healthy Oxford Hills have teamed together to offer smokers from all of Oxford County who quit smoking for five weeks – from Jan. 11 until Feb. 14 – the chance of winning cash prizes of $250, $100 and $50.

Quitters don’t have to go it alone; they can practice cutting down by using nicotine replacement products sold over the counter and which may also be available for free through Maine’s Tobacco Helpline, 1-800-207-1230. The helpline also offers personalized support on an ongoing basis.

Another option is to see a doctor to talk about a prescription for Chantix or Zyban, which significantly cut nicotine cravings.

Free quit classes will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Dec. 30, at Healthy Oxford Hills. The classes will run for five weeks.

For questions, to sign up for Quit and Win, the Quit Group or for general quit support, call Healthy Oxford Hills at 739-6222, River Valley Healthy Communities at 364-7408 or e-mail [email protected].
