GRAY – Taylor Valente scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and Evan Kenney hit for 14 as Gray-New Gloucester pulled away from Freeport for a 58-41 victory in WMC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Adam Jensen added 13 for the Patriots (2-2). Jackson Dodge and Tom Dorsey each poured in 10 for the Falcons (1-3) in the loss.

Maranacook 64, Leavitt 47

TURNER – Maranacook doubled up Leavitt in each of the first two quarters and the teams played evenly through the second half as the Black Bears left Turner with a 64-47 victory over the Hornets in a KVAC Class B showdown.

Ben Johnson recorded a game-high 24 points for Maranacook (3-1), Sam Poulin scored 12 and David Clough added 10 for the visitors.

Tyler Allen was the Hornets’ shining star Tuesday, draining five 3-pointers in a 23-point performance in the loss. Noah Poto added seven for the home team.

Richmond 54, Buckfield 29

BUCKFIELD – Eric Murrin led a balanced Richmond attack with 10 points and Nick Woods and Bruce Carver added nine apiece as the Bobcats trounced Buckfield 54-29 in an EWC showdown Tuesday.

Austin Dooley was the Bucks’ top scorer with eight points as they struggled to get going early, dropping in just three points in the first quarter.

Mt. Ararat 43, Oxford Hills 37

PARIS – Mt. Ararat rebounded from a one-point halftime deficit with a 15-point third quarter and pulled away in the fourth for a 43-37 victory in KVAC basketball action Tuesday.

Will Gerencer led the Eagles (3-1) with 20 points, including two from beyond the arc. Josh Walker added six points and dished out six assists in the win.

Matt Verrier drained three 3-pointers and led the Vikings with 13 points, while Matt McVety added five points and hauled down seven rebounds.

Medomak Valley 76, Oak Hill 55

WALDOBORO – Isaac Durkee poured in 10 of his game-high 26 points in the third quarter to break the game open and send the Panthers to a 76-55 triumph over Oak Hill.

Medomak Valley (3-1) jumped to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter, but the Raiders fought to take a lead before the hosts wrestled it away to take a halftime. 40-29. A 21-10 run in the third quarter, fueled by Durkee, put the game out of reach.

Alex MacKenzie enjoyed a strong game in the paint with 23 points, while Isaac Greenrose added 11, including three 3-pointers.

Can Morin paced Oak Hill (1-3) with 17 points, while Tim Levesque had 12.

York 63, Poland 50

YORK – York used a 18-10 run in the final frame to pull out a 63-50 win over Poland in a WMC boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday. 

Jason Gorman led York with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Mike King chipped in with 10 points. 

The Knights (0-4) were paced by Kyle McVane with a 20-point performance, while Mike Littlefield added eight. The two squads stayed within two points of each other through the first three frames.  

Hyde 63, Rangeley 34

BATH – Hyde jumped out to a 22-9 advantage in the first frame and never looked back as they hustled to a 63-34 victory over Rangeley.

Ted Cercos led Hyde with a game-high 23 points, while Harry Smith tallied 16 and David Duncan added 10 in a well-balanced attack. 

The Lakers (0-5) were paced by Eric White with nine points, while Regan Sargeant added eight.
