LEWISTON — HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults that focuses on the whole person, body, mind and spirit, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee as well as a variety of specialty classes, including:
Ashtanga Yoga, Primary Standing Series: The beginner class is an athletic vinyasa format (meaning poses and breath energetically flow together). With consistent practice, gain increased strength, flexibility and peace and clarity of mind. Avoid eating one to two hours before class and bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

Gentle Exercise: The class is designed for those with arthritis, recovering from cancer or any other individual who desires a mild form of exercise. It helps improve range of motion, strength, posture, balance and coordination.

Intermediate/Advanced Pilates: It is a six-week intermediate/advanced pilates mat class. Students can expect full body strengthening with particular emphasis on the core musculature. Wear nonrestrictive attire and bring a mat.

Lose With Me!: A 12-week weight loss session focused on making healthier lifestyle choices. Classes include goal setting, exercise recommendations, nutrition education and peer support. Mommy and Me Postnatal Yoga: A way to reconnect with and strengthen the body after it has healed from delivery. Designed for mothers and their infant children (8 weeks to almost walking). Classes offer an opportunity for you to bond, breathe, and stretch with baby and connect with other mothers. Gentle hands-on yoga and massage for babies.

Osteoball: Exercising with the osteoball uses the same simple isometric resistive techniques astronauts use to keep fit while in space. The class is designed for individuals recovering from cancer, those who have bone- and joint-related conditions and other individuals who desire a mild yet effective form of resistance training.

Prenatal Yoga: The class is geared for women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Expectant mothers will learn postures and breathing techniques to invite deep relaxation, conquer fatigue, stretch, strengthen and prepare their changing bodies for childbirth. Pre-registration is required. No prior
yoga experience necessary. Yoga students need to bring a yoga mat and
strap, pillow, blankets and a water bottle. Avoid eating a heavy meal an hour before class. Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.,

Racquetball: Specific time slots are available for registration Monday through Friday on the hour for an hour from 6 a.m. to noon;
cost with core HealthSteps membership, $19 for the winter/spring session; without membership: hour once a week, Jan. 4 to May 28, $152; an hour twice a week, $190.
Senior Fitness: The one-hour class provides participants with a safe and effective workout that includes a warm-up, cardiovascular component, resistance training to build strength, balance and flexibility exercises.
