TURNER — Leavitt Area High School will present the musical “My Fair Lady” Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9, at the Leavitt Auditorium.

Set in London, the play begins with a scene involving the full cast where a chance meeting occurs between two noted British linguists, Prof. Henry Higgins (played by Jesse Juntura) and Col. Hugh Pickering (Jacob White). Their discussion leads to a wager that Higgins can transform the unrefined, Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (LillianRamser) into a lady — and fool everyone into thinking she really is one.

He succeeds and young aristocrat Freddy Eynsford-Hill (Ben Dostie) falls madly in love with her. When Higgins takes all the credit and fails to acknowledge her efforts, Eliza angrily leaves him for Freddy. Higgins comes to realize he has grown accustomed to her face and can’t live without it.

Other lead characters include Mrs. Eynsford-Hill (Alana Mallar), Mrs. Higgins (Abby White), Mrs. Pearce (Aimee Giffune), Alfred P. Doolittle (Brandon Clark) and Lord Boxington (Brendan Longley).

Well-known songs from this musical include “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “Get Me to the Church on Time.”

The show is directed by Penny Appleby, with Steve Barter as musical director and William Buzza as producer.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 and at 2 p.m. Jan. 9. Tickets are $8, $5 for students and senior citizens and $3 for children under age 5. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 225-4115.
