Roger R. Beaudoin
1935 – 2010
PITTSFIELD, N.H. — Roger R. Beaudoin, 74, of Pittsfield, N.H., passed away peacefully on the first hour of Jan. 1, at home surrounded by family after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, April 7, 1935, the son of Joseph and Bertha (Sutton) Beaudoin. He grew up in Lewiston-Auburn area and attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1953.
He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953 to 1961, and was honorably discharged. He served on the USCGC Eastwind, USCGC Achusnet and the USCGC Casco. He became an honored member of The Royal Order of Deep Freeze I, Task Force 43 (1955 to 1956) on the USCGC Eastwind.
While on non-active duty, he attended Maine Vocational-Technical Institute majoring in industrial electricity receiving his diploma in 1959.
On Sept. 4, 1961, he married Georgette Champagne of St. Prosper, Quebec. They raised three children, living in Maine for a short period before finally settling down in New Hampshire, before the birth of their third child. While living in Lewiston, they were members of St. Croix and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a master electrician and member of the IBEW Local Union 490, where he served from 1961 to 1997 with great passion not only as an electrician but an involved member holding a variety of offices to serve the membership.
He was an avid hunter in his early years and spent much of his retirement fishing and camping in the Great Northern Woods of Quebec and going to Alaska with his wife with whom he loved and cherished deeply. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who was always there to love, support, and guide us in times of need. He enjoyed his life to the fullest having a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes whether it was at work or with family. He loved science and planes which he later obtained his license to fly helicopters fulfilling his lifelong ambition to fly.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Georgette Champagne Beaudoin of Pittsfield; one son, Denis Beaudoin Sr. and his wife, Wanda, of Pittsfield; one daughter, Michelle Lawrence and her husband, Steven, of Pittsfield; one brother, Raymond Beaudoin and his wife, Kitty, of Machias; one sister, Claudette Bonneau and her husband, Maurice, of Lewiston; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his eldest son, Richard R. Beaudoin, who died on March 4, 2005.
