JAY — A married couple faces drug and child endangering charges after police investigated a complaint from a state agency that they were providing marijuana to children under age 14.

Carrie Broadway, 33, and Brian Broadway, 32, both of Jay, were each arrested Wednesday on a charge of felony aggravated furnishing of schedule drugs and endangering the welfare of a child, Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday.

The felony charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and the misdemeanor charge up to 364 days.

Police received a report from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services on Dec. 29 that the couple was furnishing marijuana to children, White said.

Detective Richard Caton IV, who is investigating the case, arrested the couple at their home without incident Wednesday afternoon, he said.

They were taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington and were each being held on $500 cash bail as of late afternoon.

Bail conditions were set to not possess or use any illegal drugs and to have no contact with minors under the age of 16, White said.

The investigation is ongoing and a report will be reviewed by assistant district attorneys to determine if more charges will be filed against them, he said.

Both Broadways are scheduled to appear on Feb. 19 in Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington.
