At a recent meeting of the Cigar Makers Union of Lewiston and Auburn, resolutions were adopted expressing sympathy with the cause of the Boot and Shoe Workers of these cities in their trouble with the Manufacturers, and tendering to them their moral, and if need be, their financial support.
50 years ago, 1960
Indications that Auburn will be asked to construct a new ski jump at Pettingill Park and institute a ski program for children as part of the city’s recreation department setup were made last night at a meeting of the Auburn Ski Association.
While the association took no formal vote on the matters discussed, it was apparent the group plans future action.
Of even greater length than the debate on the ski jump was a discussion of the institution of a program of ski instruction for children.
25 years ago, 1985
The Central Maine Medical Center Family Practice Center will sponsor a Cabbage Patch doll clinic on Jan. 26 at the Auburn Mall, when doctors, nurses and volunteers will be on hand to talk with youngsters and their parents about health, hygiene, nutrition, dental health and safety. Children bringing any kind of doll in for a check-up will be issued certificates and photographs of themselves and their dolls.
