This is in response to Cal Thomas’ syndicated column of Jan. 18, “Global warming experts lack convincing evidence.”

This is not to agree or disagree with Thomas’ piece. It’s more a warning and, perhaps, to correct a popular misconception.

What if there really is such a thing as global warming, or whatever anyone wishes to call it? Wouldn’t it be wiser to be cautious now, rather than later, when it might be too late?

Just as a point of information: One of the effects of global warming causes the ice sheets to melt. That, in turn, has an immediate effect on ocean temperatures. That, in turn, has an effect on air temperatures and, ultimately, the weather. Hence, the warming will, initially, cause cooling.
