Rodolphe ‘Rudy’ G. Laverdiere
1922 – 2010
AUBURN – Rodolphe “Rudy” G. Laverdiere, 87, formerly of 117 Holland St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Clover Manor in Auburn, where he had been a resident for the past three years.
Born in Lewiston on Feb. 24, 1922, he was the son of Henri and Marianne Lessard Laverdiere. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. On Nov. 27, 1952, he married the former Carmel Turcotte, who passed away on June 16, 2007. He owned and operated Gene’s Corner Store, from 1956-1974, with his brother Raymond, and co-started Able Maintenance and Power Rooter until retirement on Jan. 3, 1987 in Lewiston. A member of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, he enjoyed candlepin bowling, was active for many years in an investment club and following his retirement, travelled extensively with his wife.
Survivors include two sons, Marc and wife, Margie, of Lewiston and Jacques and wife, Melissa, of Auburn; four daughters, Marie Laverdiere of Hebron, Lorraine and husband, John Powell, of Lewiston, Lise and husband, Robert Farmer, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Rose and husband, David Gagne, of Lewiston; a brother, Raymond of Lewiston; a sister, Therese Provencher of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Janna, Christine, Tommy, Shannah, Leanne, Kimberly, Samantha and Christopher; a great-grandchild, Clea; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents; he was predeceased by three sisters, Annie, Juliette and Rita; and three brothers, Henri, Leonel and Albert.
The family would also like to give special thanks to the staff at Clover Manor for the loving care of our father.
