I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all of the fire personnel and area fire departments that responded to the fire at the Franklin Health Medical Arts Center on Jan. 30. Due to their efforts, the fire was contained to the attic area over the east wing of the building only, which houses pediatrics, general surgery and urology medical practices.

In the aftermath of the fire, hospital administrators and other employees were busy over the weekend serving on impact teams to creatively address issues such as relocating services, cleanup, and security, so that we could see patients of the affected medical offices on Monday.

I thank each one of them for putting in long hours on a Saturday and Sunday to come up with the solutions.

We also appreciate the many calls from community members who have voiced their concerns and offered their help and support.

Finally, thank you to all who responded — firefighters, the Farmington Police Department, NorthStar EMS — and for all they do to protect families and residents. I am proud to live in this community where so many dedicated professional people are willing to risk their lives to protect others.
