This summer, I was able to go with my family for the first time whitewater rafting on the Kennebec River. When we were on the calm part of the river, that is where I learned about the Central Maine Power corridor.
It broke my heart to find out that people would destroy Maine’s natural beauty. It will also destroy animal habitat and trees. I was surprised at how relaxed being on the river made me. That will be ruined if the power line project goes through.
I have been learning what I can about the project, and I don’t see how Maine will be better. I know I don’t understand everything about this, but in my 11-year-old world, nothing is worth destroying some of the most beautiful nature and peacefulness in Maine.
