SEBAGO LAKE — The Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake will present “A Little Food, Some Ducks, and a Bench by a Lake,” an evening of one-act plays.
Performances will be from Feb. 26 through March 7 in the Black Box Theater.
The three selections are “Two Guys Sitting by a River Discussing Stuff of No Importance to Anyone,” by Jerry Walker; “A Little Something for the Ducks,” by Jean Lenox Toddie; and “The Duck Variations,” by David Mamet.
The evening will start off with Martha as the narrator and goes on to “Two Guys Sitting by a River,” in which two men are fishing and discussing whatever comes up. “A Little Something for the Ducks” is a story of a zestful courtship between 78-year-old Irma and 79-year-old Samuel.
“The Duck Variations” depicts a discussion between two elderly men watching ducks while sitting on a park bench. The dialogue begins with the mating habits of ducks and continues on to law, friendship and death. They use what experience has taught them and scattered, possibly incorrect ideas and facts, to make guesses. Each assures the other that their guesses are established fact. By argument and occasional agreement, a composite view of ducks and, by extension the world, begins to emerge.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors. Schoolhouse Arts Center is on Route 114, just north of Routes 114 and 35. For more information, call 642-3743 or visit www.schoolhousearts.org.
