100 years ago, 1910

Among the subjects discussed last evening by the Auburn Board of Trade was the installation of a new system of street lighting, the municipal ownership of an electric lighting plant, and the building in the immediate future of a city hall of modern design. It was announced that the annual banquet would be held on Monday evening, March 21, and the guest of honor will be Gov. Bert M. Fernald.

50 years ago, 1960

Two veteran Lewiston and Auburn physicians were honored last night by the medical staff and board of directors of the Central Maine General Hospital.

What was called a regular staff meeting turned out to be a dinner in honor of Dr. E.C. Higgins, who will be 80 years of age today, and Dr. Gard W. Twaddle who was 70 on Jan. 31.

Both Dr. Higgins and Dr. Twaddle are members of the consulting staff at the hospital.

25 years ago, 1985

Following a scoreless first period Lewiston High took a three-goal lead on Brunswick in the second round, going on to lead 4-0 before the Dragons counted in the course of the 8-2 LHS hockey league victory at Bowdoin’s Dayton Arena Monday. The state league success brought Lewiston’s conference record to 15-1.

The Blue Devils had clinched the pennant Saturday. They next play Waterville Thursday in the last Youth Center doubleheader of the winter.
