AUBURN — The Andy Valley Sno Gypsies Snowmobile Club of Auburn will hold its annual fundraising poker run at Lost Valley Ski Area.

If you ride a snowmobile or drive a car, you may participate Saturday, Feb. 20, in the event, spinoff from the traditional card game. Participants travel to five spots along a designated route that begins and ends at Lost Valley, picking up a card at each stop. By the end of the course, they have a poker hand.

The person with the best poker hand wins $150 in cash. Whoever has the worst hand receives $50. Last year, more than $1,500 worth of merchandise and gift certificates from local merchants was given away.

Registration is between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Participants can start the poker run anytime after noon. If riding a snowmobile, plan on 2 to 2½ hours to complete the course. If driving a car, plan on 2 hours. Prizes are awarded at 4 p.m.; people must be present to win.

Proceeds benefit Central Maine Adaptive Sports, which offers adaptive ski lessons to people with disabilities, and the snowmobile club, which maintains and grooms nearly 40 miles of trails in the Auburn area.
