AUBURN — The First Universalist Church of Auburn will host an event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, to promote community supported agriculture. Local farmers will share information about local food and CSA opportunities in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
The free family-friendly event will also offer food tastings, work songs, face painting, worm composting demonstrations and music from the Swamp Donkeys. The church will also sponsor a contest for the best chili made with local ingredients.
Auburn UU is one of a dozen statewide sites to host the CSA fairs on Feb. 28, co-sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and the Maine Council of Churches.
The fairs show how CSAs allow people to purchase a share of the coming harvest before the season begins.
Parking is available and entry is handicapped accessible. The church is located at 169 Pleasant St. with entrance on Spring Street. For more information, call 783-0461 or visit auburnuu.org.
