FARMINGTON — After a winter hiatus, SugarWood Gallery, 248 Broadway, will resume the artist of the month recognition event.
Local businessman Scott Landry will be recognized at an open house reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5. The public is invited. The reception will resume from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6.
Landry was born in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School. He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a bachelor of science in education. He lives in Wilton with his wife Brenda and owns the Shiretown Insurance Agency in Farmington.
He has been involved in photography since the 1960s when he started photographing weddings with his father Horace, a journalist and photographer. One can say Landry carries on the tradition begun by Mickey McGuire and Dick Bell, both noted photographers of Franklin County happenings in the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Landry’s photos have been used by the news media documenting events in and about the area for many years. When not tending to local citizens or documenting events through his lens, he can be found tending another passion, raising and competing racing pigeons.
Landry’s work will be on exhibit and available for sale at SugarWood Gallery during March. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
