Pauline ‘Polly’ S. Gallant
1926 – 2010
WATERVILLE — Pauline “Polly” Shirley Gallant, 84, of Waterville died Tuesday, March 16, at Maine General Medical Center-Thayer Unit.
She was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Waterville, the daughter of Harley and Hattie (Dorothy) Chipman. Polly was passionate about her gardening and loved to have beautiful gardens at her former residence on the West River Road in Sidney, where her and her husband spent 34 wonderful years together.
She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and going out to eat with her favorite girls from T.O.P.S.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Grimes of Waterville and Lois Marden and husband, Harold “Ham,” of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Brandon Lopez, James and Kyle Grimes, and Andrew and Sara Marden; a sister, Arlene Yerkes of Massachusetts; and a very special friend, Charlie Quimby, who brought so much happiness and light to her later days in life while at Goudreaus Living Center.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Reginald Gallant; and nine brothers and sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful people at Maine General Medical Center-Thayer Unit for their passionate and dignified care during Polly’s last few days. Also, the staff and friends at Goudreas Living Center for making her life filled with comfort and enjoyment.
