LISBON — The Intersection Book Club will begin the book “A Table In The Presence,” by Lt. Carey H. Cash, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the library at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

The club will conclude the book on Thursday, June 3, with a showing of the 2009 Best Picture of the Year, “The Hurt Locker.”

The book tells the story of how the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment met Christ in the battlefields of Iraq. As the battalion’s chaplain, Cash had the unique privilege of seeing firsthand, from beginning of the war to the end, how God delivered, and even transformed, the lives of the men of the 1st Battalion.

Their regiment, the most highly decorated regiment in the history of the Marines, was the first ground force to cross the border into Iraq in 2003, the first to see one of their own killed in battle and they were the unit to fight what most believe to have been the decisive battle of the war.

The Intersection Book Club meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, at the church, on the hill off Route 196. There is no charge. Newcomers are welcome and may drop by one week or every week.

Information on ordering books is available at the parish office. Call 353-8453, e-mail stmatthews@gwi.net or visit www.StMatthewsLisbon.org.
