AUBURN — Arthur F. Wright, 89, of North Jay, died Tuesday evening, April 13, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1920 in North Jay, the son of Elmer and Muriel (McLure) Wright. He attended Jay schools and played basketball on the high school team. He lived and worked all his life on the family farm in North Jay. When not at the farm he worked at Bath Iron Works as a welder until the start of World War II and later at Bass Shoe in Wilton for several years and Stowell MacGregor in Dixfield. His life truly revolved around his farm and raising animals until the last couple of years. He enjoyed traveling to county fairs, showing his cattle and pulling his oxen. He had been involved in the local 4-H and Grange.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence “Skeet” (Francis) Wright, whom he married in March of 1948; a son, Bryan and his wife, Rita, of Florida; a son, Stuart of North Jay; a daughter, Carolyn Frost and her husband, Terry, of Dixfield; a daughter, Sherrill Bean and her husband, Terry of South Paris; two special children, Dalene Pulk and David Briggs; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Earl and his wife, Marion, of Wilton; a sister, Evelyn Blaisdell of Sandy River Center for Nursing Care in Farmington.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Lawrence Wright; and a grandson, Michael Francis.
