WATERFORD — A Berwick man convicted of terrorizing appeared in 11th District Court on Monday afternoon on another such charge involving a woman at her home at Hilltop Drive.

Brian Lamper, 41, was arrested Friday on charges of domestic violence terrorizing, domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening and aggravated assault. He was taken to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset, following his arraignment Monday, and is being held on $5,000 cash bail, or $1,500 cash with a Maine pretrial contract. If he makes bail, he is barred from contacting the woman.

According to an affidavit by Oxford County Deputy Matthew Noyes, the woman said Lamper lived at her home, and that they have had an on-again, off-again relationship the past two years.

She said he assaulted her Friday morning after an argument over finances the night before. He shook her, screamed at her, shoved her face into the bedroom carpet and struck her twice on the back of the head, Noyes wrote.

She also said Lamper “used his body weight and pressed on her throat with his forearm, causing her to gasp for air,” according to the affidavit.

Noyes said Lamper told him the two had been thinking about breaking up, which sparked the argument.

“I asked Brian if he had gotten physical at any point during the argument,” Noyes wrote. “He told me that he had not.”

A criminal background check by Noyes revealed Lamper has one conviction for terrorizing and an arrest on a charge of violating a protection order.

Lamper faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of aggravated assault; and up to a year in prison on each of the other charges.
