Lewiston Police Sgt. Brian O’Malley said Tuesday night that Taylor Bentley, 10, of Auburn, and Joel M. Frenette, 17, of Lewiston, were transported following the 7:50 a.m. crash at the intersection of Lisbon Street and North Lisbon Road. No information was available about Bentley Tuesday night. A nursing supervisor at Central Maine Medical Center confirmed that Frenette remained hospitalized, but was unable to release his condition.
Bentley was a passenger in a 2002 GMC pickup truck driven by Elliott D. Bentley, 48, of Auburn. Bentley was traveling south on Lisbon Street when Frenette attempted to turn left onto Lisbon Street from North Lisbon Road. The vehicles collided head-on.
Neither the elder Bentley, nor a second passenger, Jared Bentley, 7, were injured in the crash.
According to the police report, Frenette failed to yield the right of way. Neither driver was cited as of Tuesday night.
Damage to Bentley’s truck was estimated at $5,000; to the 1999 Jeep driven by Frenette and owned by Andre Frenette, $8,000. Authorities were searching for a black lab belonging to one of the drivers that got loose during the crash. No information was available Tuesday night about whether or not the dog had been located.
