PORTLAND — A Westbrook man was killed early Sunday morning in an assault at Monument Square, WGME-TV reported.

Portland police were searching for three men who allegedly assaulted and knocked out the 24-year-old man around 1:29 a.m. on Sunday.

The victim later died at Maine Medical Center.

The victim was with a woman, who police said was not hurt. According to a news release from police, one of the suspects was a man, Hispanic or Middle Eastern in appearance, 20 to 30 years old, from 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 9 nine, and between 130 and 180 pounds. The suspect was wearing a yellow shirt, baggy jeans, with a hip-hop style flat-brim hat, WGME reported.

The other males in the group were dressed in a similar fashion.
