LEWISTON — Home sales in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties over the past three months have increased dramatically compared to the same three-month period last year, according to figures released by the Maine Association of Realtors.
And prices for those homes have also risen in two of those three counties.
Statewide, the association reported a 63 percent increase in Maine homes sales in April, compared to last April, with a 3.41 percent overall increase in median sales price.
A closer look shows that figures from the last three months — February to April — indicate home sales in Androscoggin County rose 56 percent compared to the same three-month period last year, and sales prices rose by about 4.6 percent to a median sales price of $134,711.
In Franklin County, homes sales for the three-month period rose 108 percent, the largest jump reported statewide, while prices rose 67 percent, the second-highest jump, to a mean sales price of $111,950.
In Oxford County, single-family homes sales rose about 42 percent, but prices declined on average 5.68 percent to a median sales price of $124,500.
