AUBURN – Rowe Ford downed Pat’s Pizza in a tightly contested, defensive battle in Auburn Suburban Little League minor baseball.

Pat’s Pizza received a strong, shutout inning on the mound from Ben Cassidy, who gave one hit — a triple to Aaron Perkins — and recorded three strikeouts. Perkins answered with two strikeouts and no runs allowed in his inning of work.

Perkins finished the day 3-for-3 for Rowe. Tyler Libby and Ethan Rombalski had two hits each. Hunter McQuade and Marshall Chadbourne led Pat’s with two hits apiece. Chadbourne helped turn two double plays in an outstanding defensive effort.

Christian Beliveau playing a strong game in the outfield for Rowe, which also received a nice play from Colby Levesque on the pitcher’s mound and a game-ending double play from Beliveau to Robbie Marcotte.

Rowe Ford also battled M&P Auto in a slugfest. Oliver Hall led M&P Auto with four hits and outstanding play defensively. Drew Bennett had three hits and Hunter Langlois was solid at the plate for M&P. Seth Kolreg and Libby led Rowe Ford with six hits each. Marcotte, Nick Martinez, Ethan Rombalski and Levesque had four hits each while Chrisitan Anderson contributed three hits and Chase Martin had two. Rowe Ford received tremendous defensive efforts by Rombalski, Libby, Levesque and an unassisted double play by Marcotte.

In other minor league action, Hammond Lumber rallied from a 7-1 deficit to pull out a hard fought 9-8 victory over Hudson Bus Lines on Saturday.

Mack Sampson led the offensive charge for Hammond Lumber with three hits and a RBI. Nick Allen Smith chipped in with a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fifth. Noah Perreault led Hudson with three hits and a solid game in the field.

Auburn Fire Fighters pulled out a squeaker, 4-2, over Austin’s in ASLL major baseball. Five innings of strong pitching by Austin’s Justin Keaney, along with good defense by Brandon Varney and Jason Taylor, held the powerful Fire Fighters to four runs. AFF’s Noah Moreshead, Noah Perron, Tyler Blanchard and Noah Yarnevich each went 2-for-2 and punched in enough runs for victory.

LEWISTON – Melanson Paving registered three recent wins in Elliot Ave. Little League major baseball.

Melanson knocked off Aubuchon Hardware, 6-2, behind two hits and two RBIs from Austin Wing. Kyle Morin pitched in a double and drove in two runs. Brock Belanger added a double. Morin and Jeromey Rancourt combined on strong pitching for the win. Jacob Charest was the big hitter for the Toolmen with a double.

The Pavers then defeated United Ambulance, 14-7. Morin had two hits to lead the offense. Dalton Wing chipped in two RBIs. Gage Cote was the big stick for United with three hits, including a triple. Kaleb Morrisette also had two hits, one of them a double.

Melanson also avenged an earlier loss, decisioning Dube Flower, 5-1. Austin Wing tossed a complete game, striking out 11. Mitchel Frisbee swung the big bat with a double and a triple. For Dube, Sean O’Donnell had a triple. Jordan Ferrell added a double.

South Lewiston

LEWISTON – Short-handed Aroostook Fence defeated Hammond Lumber, 12-6, in South Lewiston Little League action Friday night. With no subs available, a second-inning injury forced Aroostook to finish the game with only eight players. Aroostook starting pitcher Andrew Loisel pitched 4 2/3 impressive innings, striking out 8. Hammond hurler Jacob Strout pitched four strong frames, fanning seven.

Andrew Loisel led Aroostook with a triple and a single, three runs scored and two RBIs. Brenden Hanlon added three singles and 3 RBIs. Ben Trytek chipped in two hits and an RBI.

Ryan Bell paced Hammond with a triple. Colby Bilodeau added a double. Garret Poussard and Brent Jones each chipped in two singles.
