LEWISTON – Melinda J. Atwood, 57, a resident of Moose Hill Road, Livermore Falls, died peacefully early Friday morning, June 4, surrounded by her loving family at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, as a result of a stroke she suffered on Wednesday.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1953, in Farmington, the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Breton) Loewe. Melinda was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. She was a member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary. Melinda enjoyed playing bingo and fishing. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandson, Ryan. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Norton of Livermore Falls, Alysha Braley and her husband, Zane, of Harmony; and her son, Joseph Atwood of Livermore Falls; her grandson, Ryan Begin of Harmony; two sisters, Dolly Keener and her husband, Charlie, of Lincolnton, N.C., and Pamela Sue Cook and her companion, Steve Hewins, of Livermore Falls; sister-in-law, Bessie Mae Loewe of Livermore; her Godmother, Yevonne Henry of Livermore Falls; and her best friends, Emmarie Reeve of Jay and Veronica Dustin of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Alfred Lowe; her sister, Rose Marie Barnett; and her aunt, Lorraine Ouellette.
