AUBURN — Rachel A. Fleck, 74, of South Paris, passed away on Sunday, June 13 at the Hospice House, after a short illness.
She was born in Norway, Feb. 27, 1936, the daughter of Kenneth and Hilma Holmes Durgin. She was a child care provider and took care of older folks, providing companionship as well as assisting with household chores.
She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, crocheting and playing games with her family. She especially enjoyed her flower gardens. She married John Fleck on Nov. 18, 1953. She was a loving and devoted wife of 48 years, until his passing on May 31, 2002.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Mitchell and her husband, Paul, of Readfield; son, Alan Fleck of South Paris; daughter, Wanda Simpson and her husband, Scott, of South Paris; sisters, Charlotte Varney and her husband, John, of Oxford, Sheila Daniels of Waterford and Cheryl Durgin of Oxford; brothers, Leroy Durgin of West Paris, Raymond Durgin of Fryeburg and Dwayne Durgin and his wife, Becky, of Sumner; seven grandchildren, Joshua Simpson, Jessica Fleck, Alexis Simpson, Courtney Fleck, Rebekah Fleck, Samuel Mitchell and Savannah Mitchell; and a special niece, Debra Rosenberg of Jay.
She was predeceased by sisters, Gloria Durgin, Sandra McAlister and Naomi Mullen; and a brother, Sonny Durgin.
