That was a fine letter from Muriel Scott on elder abuse in the June 14 Sun Journal. However, there is another kind of elder abuse going on. It’s Medicare forcing folks to pay $4,550 out-of-pocket for their prescriptions in the so-called doughnut hole.
Oh, yes, people can get discount cards and help from drug companies, but that only extends the hole because discounted prices don’t go toward the $4,550. The feds need to take that pound of flesh from the elderly.
I have to wonder how many elderly don’t take life-saving drugs because they can’t afford it.
