AUBURN — William Benjamin Griffin Jr., 70, of 14 Callahan Circle, Mechanic Falls, died Thursday, June 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Brunswick, May 4, 1940, the only son of William and Elizabeth Bernier Griffin Sr. Bill attended Brunswick schools. He retired from National Wood Products in Oxford.

He enjoyed wood craft, birds, flower gardens and traveling with his wife to Cape Breton. He was a very talented craftsman who enjoyed giving his wood craft to friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Ward Griffin of Mechanic Falls; one son, Timothy Griffin of South Harpswell; three daughters, Debra Birmes and Cindy Webber of Missouri, and Billie Jo Griffin of Richmond; two sisters, Norma Gayley of Bowdoin and Nancy Rice of Stockton, Calif.: three stepdaughters, Michelle and Christine Ward and Bobbie Jo Chase of the Norway area; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; he also sadly left many friends and neighbors, Phil and Carol Bibber of Harpswell and Bonnie Hersey and Lyn Baker of Mechanic Falls, who were dear to him.
