AUBURN — Katie M. Borge, 84, of Cleve Tripp Road, Poland, died Wednesday, June 23, in an Auburn health care facility.
She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Gorham, a daughter of Edward and Alfreda Walker Strout. She was a graduate of Gorham High School, Class of 1944. Over the years, she had worked for Sferes Grocery Store and Siciliano’s Drug Store of Little Falls, Fairchilds of South Portland and Bonon Footwear of Auburn.
She was a former captain of the South Windham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed beano, hunting, fishing and ice cream.
Survivors include her son, Martin E. Borge and his partner, Gail Forbes, of Gainesville, Fla.; daughters, Sharon Anthony and her husband, Allen, of Poland and Carolyn Borge of Cranston, R.I.; a sister, Ruth Bennett of South Portland; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence Borge Sr.; a son, Laurence Borge Jr.; a grandson, Dana Borge; several brothers and sisters; and her two dogs, Cleo and Flossie.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Stella Borge and her granddaughter, Pauline Clark and to the Hospice House of Auburn for their excellent care of Katie and her son, Laurence Jr.
