LIVERMORE — Louisa Adele Desjardins, 85, a resident of Livermore, died Tuesday, June 29, at her daughter Anita’s home in Livermore surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Ciney, Belgium, the daughter of Gene and Lauri (Paquot) Labie. Louisa attended school in Belgium.

On April 10, 1946, she married her husband of 52 years, Joseph P.H. Desjardins in Belgium, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. He passed away Nov. 23, 1998.

Louisa, a “war bride” came to the United States in 1946. She worked at Livermore Shoe for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Louisa enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her six daughters, Josianne Duguay of Bath, Mrs. Thomas (Elaine) Doak of Wilton, Rita Varnum of Rumford, Christine (Nicky) Lee and Anita (Nene) Desjardins, both of Livermore and Therese (Peno) Atkinson of East Jay; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Yvette Longley in 1966; and her granddaughter, Karen Louise Longley in 1965.
