MONMOUTH — The Theater At Monmouth will present a story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth, and how they solve the mystery of their true identities.

Shakespeare’s earliest and most ridiculous comedy, “The Comedy of Errors,” will open The Theater At Monmouth’s summer season with laughs. It’s a play filled with mistaken identities, slapstick comedy and ridiculous situations.

Directed by Curt L. Tofteland, “The Comedy of Errors” will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 9, with a preview on Thursday, July 8. Additional performances will be on July 10, 11, 14, 22, and 28; and Aug. 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 15 and 21.

Tickets are $26 opening night; all other performances are $24 for adults, $22 for seniors and matinees, $20 for students.

A reception will be held after the show when audience members can enjoy complimentary food and drinks and an opportunity to meet with the director and cast members.

Besides “The Comedy of Errors,” the 2010 theater repertory includes Shakespeare’s “Pericles” and “Prince of Tyre;” Mark Twain’s funny “Is He Dead?”; George Bernard Shaw’s clever undressing of love and marriage, “Misalliance;” and the children’s show, Oscar Wilde’s “The Canterville Ghost.”

Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance” will close TAM’s 41st season, featuring professional leads and community members in the chorus.
