The play, directed by Susan DeRoehn, is part of the wrap-up of the summer reading program at Rumford Public Library. The youngsters also performed to an evening crowd at the school.
Susan DeRoehn, director of “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” provides the cast of nearly two dozen area young people with encouraging words just before they begin their performance at Mountain Valley Middle School in Rumford on Thursday afternoon. “You have only one chance to present this to people. Think like an empress, an emperor, a blacksmith,” she said. The play is part of the Rumford Public Library Children’s Theatre and a part of the library’s summer reading program. The youngsters also performed for an evening audience.
