HAINES CITY, Fla. – Kenneth L. Trask, 91, of Haines City, Fla., died peacefully at home on Dec. 12, 2018. Ken was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 15, 1927.
Ken served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Rita J. Brown on July 7, 1951. Together, they had three sons, Bill, Lewis and Allen. Ken was an entrepreneur at heart, and together he and Rita ran Trask’s Sport Shop, in Auburn, as they were raising their family. They also owned and operated First Roach Lodge and Campground and Yoke Pond Camps in northern Maine. Ken enjoyed a long career of working for himself and living by his own rules.
Ken enjoyed flying his float plane, golf, ATV riding, and camping in the northern woods with his son, Lewis and his wife, Gwen, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken was a jack of all trades, and a source of knowledge to those around him. His family will miss his homemade mouth puckering pickles, and his famous campfire rice. Most of all, they will miss his sense of humor and companionship.
Ken is survived by his son, Lewis Trask and his wife, Gwen of Minot, grandchildren Lewis Trask Jr. of Oregon City, Ore., Jessica Allen of Lewiston, Kristy Howard of Standish, Amy Trask of Waterford, Stephanie Parker of New Gloucester, Bill Trask of Standish, 16 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, of 60 years, Rita J. Trask; and sons, Bill and Allen.
The family would like to thank the people of Vitas Hospice Care for their support of our family, and care of Ken, in his final days. They made it possible for Ken to leave this world on his own terms, in the comfort of his own home, where he could be with his family, and his beloved dog, Buddy. We would also like to thank our dear friends, Jim and Sue Pittman, who were such great friends to Ken and Rita, and continue to be a great source of comfort and friendship to the entire family.
