LITCHFIELD — Music lovers by the thousands are expected to gather at the fairgrounds Aug. 26-29 to hear banjos, fiddles and high, lonesome harmonies.

That’s when the traditional bluegrass band Blistered Fingers of Central Maine will host the Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival, an event held every June and August since 1991.

The lineup of performers includes The Grascals of Tennessee, Saturday; Nothing Fancy of Virginia, Friday; Karl Shiflett & Big Country of Texas, Thursday; Mark Phillips & IIIrd Generation of Oklahoma, Saturday and Sunday; The Spinney Brothers, Nova Scotia, Thursday and Friday; Simon St. Pierre of Maine, Friday; Bluegrass Diamonds, Nova Scotia, Friday and Saturday; Acoustic Blue of Massachusetts, Saturday and Sunday; Remington Ryde of Pennsylvania, Thursday and Friday; Crossover of Connecticut, Saturday and Sunday; The Fiddling Landrys, Nova Scotia, Friday and Saturday; Original Conditions of Maine, Thursday and Sunday; and Bluegrass Gospel Sing & Jam of Massachusetts, Sunday.

On Friday, host band Blistered Fingers will play its mix of original material, soulful ballads and hard-driving traditional bluegrass music with a little good humor thrown in.

Tickets per person, available at gate, are $70 for four days of music and camping from 8 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Monday. Children 12 and younger, free with adult. Thursday only, $10. Friday only, $25; after 5 p.m., $20. Saturday only, $25; after 5 p.m., $20. Sunday only, $10. Dogs, 10. Power, $20 for one’s entire stay.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, for early-bird camping.

The Litchfield Historical Museum, located at the fairgrounds at 30 Plains Road, will be open Friday and Saturday of the festival. The Litchfield Fairgrounds Committee will serve hot meals in the cafe.
