AUBURN – Heavens gate opened for Diana Jo (Campbell) Cooper of Auburn on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, with her loving family by her side.

Diana was born on April 3, 1947 in Waterville, to Virginia Campbell and was raised by her grandmother, Icy Campbell.

She married the love of her life, Esau Cooper, Jr. on July 1, 1970. She was instrumental in helping her husband run his business, Cooper Paving, for over 40 years before their son took ownership of the business in 2006.

Diana enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her husband, extended family and friends. She was a collector of antiques, a fan of NASCAR racing, and she especially loved Jeff Gordon. She loved socializing in her screen house and enjoyed entertaining with her friends and family, hosting many summer cookouts.

Diana was predeceased by her grandmother, Icy Campbell of Auburn; her sister, Carol Whitney of Oakland; and a very dear friend, Stephen McDonald of Monmouth.

Diana will be lovingly remembered by her husband; and her children Theodore Cooper and his wife Tasha of Minot, Lillian Dunsmoor and her husband Ed of Houston, Texas, and Victoria Lange of Jupiter, Fla. Diana will also be fondly and lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren, Chelsey Bouffard and her husband Kyle of Auburn, Matthew Cooper and Joshua Cooper and his wife Meaghan, all of Minot, Maine; Caitlin Clements, Carley Clements, Stephen Clements and Teague Clements all of Houston, Texas; Blake Lange, Ian Lange and Ross Lange, all of Jupiter, Fla.; her three great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Beau Bouffard and Cole Cooper; and her siblings Charles Hersom and his wife Cheryl of Sidney, Linda Hood of Connecticut and Bonnie Penney of Waldoboro. She will also be forever remembered by her many nieces and nephews and extended family and amazing friends Kathy McDonald, Dave and Ellie Ward, Dick and Lynda Dow and many more.

Respecting Diana’s wishes, arrangements for a private graveside burial will be held in the spring.

The family would like to give special thanks to her brother Charles (Chip) and Kathy McDonald for the loving and caring support you gave to Diana over many years. Special thanks to Center Maine Medical Center and Androscoggin Hospice House staff who cared for Diana most recently.
