100 years ago: 1919

Thru the efforts of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the cooperation of Congressman Wallace White, Jr. and Senator Hale, Auburn is to have a captured German cannon. This will be mounted on the county property probably at the junction of Court and Turner streets. This will be a permanent reminder to every citizen of the part played by Auburn in winning the war. Senator Hale and Congressman White drew up and introduced the bill in their respective bodies to authorize the Secretary of War to turn this cannon over to Auburn.

50 years ago: 1969

The Neighborhood Mothers Club met recently at the High Street Congregational Church in Auburn with James Pace, manager of Crossman’s Furniture Store. presenting a talk on purchasing furniture.

25 years ago: 1994

Meredith Kendall and Victoria Brown of Farmington will speak on their successful venture, Rosebud Botanical, at the Monday meeting of the Auburn Art Club. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. at the High Street Congregational Church. Rosebud Botanical issues products, including natural creams and lip balm made in Maine. Hostesses will be Mrs. John Shea, Mrs. Howell Cutter, Mrs. Carleton Ring, and Mrs. Donald Webber.
