TURNER — Selectmen are recommending a $2.85 million municipal budget for 2019-20, Town Manager Kurt Schaub said at Monday night’s board meeting.
The proposal is 3.72 percent more than this fiscal year, which ends June 30.
The Budget Committee is recommending $2.84 million, a 3.41 percent increase.
The difference between the two recommendations comes mostly from summer road work, capital improvements and administration.
Voters will decide on the spending plan April 6.
In other matters, the board discussed a Feb. 20 public hearing on an amendment to the zoning ordinance that would permit medical marijuana establishments. The hearing is at 6 p.m. in the Town Office meeting room.
There is a moratorium on all marijuana establishments and growing facilities, but if the amendment passes, medical marijuana businesses would be allowed with Planning Board approval and a license or business permit from selectmen.
The board also announced that new Code Enforcement Officer Robert Folsom began his duties Monday. His hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
