Playing GuthriesOn Friday, Aug. 20, Poor Howard Stith of Dover, N.H., will perform blues at She Doesn’t Like Guthries in Lewiston. Stith has been performing 12-string barrelhouse blues for more than 30 years. Born in Kansas City and raised on a farm in Iowa, he emerged on the Minneapolis folk/blues scene in the late 1960s. He is known for his passion and reverence for the country blues of the 1920s and ’30s, his heartfelt voice and his seemingly endless supply of anecdotes, puns and shaggy dog stories. The show will start at 9 p.m. There is no cover.
