100 years ago: 1919

The cable which operates the Spring Street railway crossing in Auburn was out of order Saturday and a man was stationed there to warn traffic of approaching trains.

50 years ago: 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Webber of East Avenue, Lewiston entertained recently to make plans for the 25th class reunion of Lewiston High School, Class of 1944. The class reunion will be held at Lost Valley on June 14. Mr. Webber is seeking volunteers to serve on the committee and to obtain addresses for those class members who live away from the city.

25 years ago: 1994

A Norway Girl Scout Youth Group will hold a community breakfast Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church. The admission is $4 for adult, $2 for children ages up to 12, and under 5 are free. Proceeds will help pay for a trip to Washington, D.C. The menu is pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee, tea, juice or milk and all you can eat of doughnuts and homemade muffins. Also available will be a doughnut sale, candy bar sale, March 5 Impala dance tickets, $100 Shop ‘n Save gift certificate tickets, and a local crafter.
