James Witherell, author of Ed Muskie, Made it Maine, will be guest speaker at the Rumford Historical Society meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Rumford Auditorium.

RUMFORD- The Rumford Historical Society will host Mr. James L. Witherell, author of Ed Muskie, Made in Maine, The Early Years 1914-1960, tonight in the Rumford Auditorium at 7 p.m., following a brief business meeting of the society.
Witherell, currently of Lewiston and formerly a graduate of West Peru Grammar School and Rumford High School, will discuss his recently published book on Edmund S.Muskie. His is the first book to be published in the past 40 years on Senator Muskie, and was published on the 100th anniversary of Muskie’s birth.  Much of his research for the book was obtained from the Rumford Historical Society’s Archives Office in the Rumford Town Hall.
Witherell will be bringing copies of his book to sell, and will autograph them for those interested in purchasing them. The price is $25 each, to be paid by cash or check. No credit cards will be accepted.
The Historical Society meetings are always open to the public, and new members are welcomed. Those attending the meeting are asked to enter and exit the building through the River Street entrance, (by the Police Department).
