SOUTH PARIS — Merle F. Jack Jr., 83, of Oxford died Friday, Sept. 3, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Buckfield, Jan. 2, 1927, the son of Merle F. Jack Sr. and Louise French Jack. He attended schools in Buckfield and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Ruby Johnson on Aug. 31, 1948. He retired from Pioneer Plastics after 28 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and watching his honeybees. He was an honest, hardworking man who took pride in taking care of his family.

He is survived by two sons, Rickie Jack and his wife, Candy and Merle Jack and his wife, Debbie, all of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Sheila, Victoria, Fallon, Kaylin, Ian, Dylan and Logan; eight great-grandchildren, Edith, Caleb, Skyla, Siera, Austin, Allison, Addison and Kath-Lynn; two sisters, Phyllis Kimball and her husband, Edward, of Buckfield and Betty Fox of Oxford; a brother, Leland Jack and his wife, Dale, of Buckfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife on Nov. 13, 1995; a daughter, Dawnalyn McAllister in 2004; brothers, Norman and Erland, both of Buckfield and Franklin of Winslow; and a sister, Marion of Buckfield.
