RUMFORD — John A. Cloutier, 82, of JFK Lane, Rumford, died Sunday, Sept, 5, at the Rumford Community Home, Rumford.

He was born in Rumford, on Sept. 17, 1927, the son of Emile and Angelina “Lena” (Poirier) Cloutier, and had attended Rumford schools. He served as a career man with the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marines for over 30 years until retirement in the late 1970s, when he returned to the Rumford area. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church.

Survivors include his sister, Pauline Cloutier, of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Gaudet; and brothers, George and Harris Cloutier.
