LEWISTON — Irene C. Berube formerly 209 Pine St. died Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Marshwood Heath Care & Rehabilitation Facilities, where she resided for the past month.
She was born in Thetford Mines, P.Q., Canada, May 22, 1916, a daughter of the late Wenceslas and Sophronie Beaudoin Charest. She was educated in Lewiston schools. She was married to Arthur A. Berube, who died Jan. 19, 1990. She retired from Bates Manufacturing Co. in 1974, where she worked in the winding room for 25 years.
Mrs. Berube was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and a former parishioner at Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon. She was also a member the Lisbon Falls, Lewiston and Durham Senior Citizens. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and watching TV and loved being with family.
She is survived by two daughters, Rita Tremblay and husband, Robert, of Lewiston and Gertrude Gosselin of Brewer; two sons, Wilfred Berube of Rockport and Raymond Berube and wife, Judy, of Lewiston; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Louise Blanchette and Delima Soule; and two brothers, Wilfred and Rene Charest.
